RED LINE- THE MOVIE!!!
Yeah, well. Not quite yet, I think. Let's get the book out on the stands first, shall we?
Still, in the aftermath of the big San Diego convention (WHICH WAS AWESOME, btw!! Thanks to everybody who turned out. now go spread the word!!) people have been asking me who I would see in a film or TV version of The Red Line.
It's funny. While I'm working my way into the screen trade, it honestly never occured to me to think about this particular project translating into that medium.
Still, you can't unring a bell. The question has come up often enough in the last couple weeks that my brain has been working on the problem even when I don't ask it to do that.
So, in total wish-fulfillment mode, here are my first thoughts won who should play my characters.
Your mileage may vary. Here's the cast, in order of appearance.

Megan Good as Sudra Jones. She's beautiful, the right age and fully capable of the necessary emotional extremes.
Kristen Bell. Okay. I was late to jump on the Mars bandwagon but, now I'm on, I honestly feel Ms. Bell can do no wrong. She would KILL as Chaney.
Please. Who else could play Mr. Jones? Like Ms. Bell, Mr. Rhames can do no wrong in my eyes.
Sarita Choudhury has pleased me in EVERY film she's done. Small parts, big, anywhere between, she is perfect for Sudra's Mom. Frankly, she might be a bit young but there's always make-up.

Hey. We get some hot ladies, right. The girls should get something to look at too. I've heard they enjoy looking at Mr. Gibson. And, what a coincidence, he kind of looks like Brix anyway. How about that?

Darris Love was suggested to play AK Johnson by RASMANE at the HudlinEntertainment forum. I agree. Rasmane also suggested

James Pickens Jr. for Mr. Jones (Sudra's dad). Again, I agree. Nice work.
So? What do we all think? Play the at home game and see if you can come up with a better cast. Who knows? The results may fall into the right hands.

You know what? I played the home game before I saw either of your calls (let's just let what that may say about me go unsaid for now, shall we...?) and I even went as far as to cast AK and BONE, too. (I'm sure they've got a cap for that @$$ for forgetting them. Well...maybe not BONE.) Anyway, I couldn't cast CHANEY, as I'm not up on my young White actresses--at least not anyone who's, you know, good--but I guess that's my problem.
SUDRA: Lark Voorhies (Saved by the Bell, Civil Brand)
STEVEN JONES: James Pickens, Jr. (The X-Files, Grey's Anatomy)
"MAMA" JONES: Rita Wolf (My Beautiful Laundrette, Girl 6)
BRIX: Mehcad Brooks (Desperate Housewives, Glory Road)
BONE: Anthony Mackie (She Hate Me, 8 Mile)
AK: Darris Love (Sucka Free City, Waist Deep)
There you go. Get crackin'!
